Mechanical engineers · Palmerston North · lower North Island
We're Valentine Engineering: a full workshop on Armstrong Street, and boots that get out to farms and factories across the lower North Island. Plant maintenance, general engineering and milking shed engineering, backed by a machine shop that makes the parts others order in.
What we do
From a seized bearing at the factory to a full rotary platform build on the farm, the same crew and the same workshop stand behind all of it.
Reactive, proactive and predictive maintenance on plant and machinery, plus the guards, walkways and handrails that keep your people safe around it.
Maintenance & breakdowns →
Lathes, mills, grinding and broaching for jobbing, repairs and small production runs. We can machine items up to three metres long, and a breakdown part can be made the same day.

Rotary milking platforms built, serviced, modified and kept turning for over 25 years, along with yardwork, gates and on-farm repairs.
Rotary platforms & yardwork →
Fabrication and welding across steel, stainless, aluminium, copper and brass: Tig, Mig, pulse, flux cored, gas and arc, with CNC plasma cutting, pressbrake folding, rolling and casting repairs in-house.

Spooling and installation in steel and stainless for air, water, steam, dairy product and more, welded by ticketed pipework welders.
Pipework services →Maintenance agreements
Nobody should cross their fingers at 4:30am. Our breakdown line, 027 433 3045, is answered by an engineer any hour, and clients on a maintenance agreement get priority response plus the scheduled checks that stop most breakdowns before they start. If your plant, factory or milking platform can't afford to stand still, that's the conversation to have with us.
Not on an agreement? Ring the workshop on (06) 357 1103 and we'll get you sorted.

Every job photo on this site is ours: our workshop, our welds, our clients' sheds and plants.

When a processing line is down, every hour shows up on the bottom line. Here's the shape of how we look after the factories that rely on us.
A critical drive starts failing mid-season, with worn bearings threatening a full line stop within days.
We attend after hours so the line keeps running through the day shift, machine and fit replacement components from our own machine shop, and set up scheduled checks on the drive so the next failure gets caught before it happens.
Days of unplanned downtime avoided, and a maintenance plan that keeps the line turning.
Where we work
The workshop and machine shop live at 24 Armstrong Street, Palmerston North. For everything else, we load the truck: farms, factories, construction sites and institutions across the lower North Island.
